Edenton/Chowan High School Student Teams with Colony Tire to Raise Funds for Exceptional Children's Program
(Edenton—October 1, 2008)—When 17-year-old Laura Ullom chose her senior year school project, she wanted to focus on two things she loves – teaching and helping others. So, the John A. Holmes High School student decided to raise funds to help the Exceptional Children's Program in the Edenton/Chowan Schools recover from recent budget cuts.
In 2008, the program lost $80,000 in government funding. That's when Ullom turned to Edenton-based Colony Tire and the company's owner, Charlie Creighton, to create a new program called "Exceptional Tires for Exceptional Children".
Under the program, Colony Tire and Michelin Tires – which includes not only Michelin but BF Goodrich and Uniroyal tires - will donate $5 for each tire sold to the Exceptional Children's Program. The donation will be made for each tire sold at any of Colony Tire's 40 outlets located throughout North Carolina and Virginia.
